5 months solid food

Hey everyone, I’ve heard mixed opinions, but I’ve decided to start solid foods for my 5-month-old. She used to get frustrated watching us eat and would even try to grab food from our hands! For now, I’ve introduced fruit purées along with small sips of water. Of course, I’m still breastfeeding and plan to continue until she turns one. I’d love to hear from those who started solids at 5 months—what was your experience like?

Hello khush I've also started solids early. Baby Sophie had done well. She's had sweet potato puree, mashed banana and some weetbix.

I have also started solids for my 5 month old. She’s having puree but cries a lot when I feed her with a spoon. She prefers to have it in a bottle and she would have sips of water alongside!

I started before 5 months even because of same things. Crying at us eating without him, grabbing food etc. he chews really well and eats anything …so far he’s had fruit purées, mash potato(regular & sweet), shredded chicken/fish, tomato, tuna, cheese, baby porridge, mash banana and avocado . There’s nothing wrong as long as they show these signs of being ready. In contrast my first son was pretty uninterested til like 8/9 months old and even then it was a struggle . This baby wants to EAT

I agree with Anni, if they show an interest to food, still feel hungry after a feed and interested in us eating. These are the same reasons I started. Also another important factor is if they can sit assisted fine. You wanna make sure there head remains up.

We were exactly the same! Started at about 4 1/2 months as she would reach out for our food. She eats like a champ and she’s 6 months this week!

@Alicia congratulations for turning 6 months😊
