Anyone using a baby walker they like? My 6 month old is showing signs of wanting to walk or at least stand. I have slippery wooden floors so I’m looking for something stationary I can place him in for a few minutes at a time. I read about push walkers but I am leaning against one. Worried about falling on hard surfaces because of the slippery floors.

A push walker is alright with supervision for short periods if he's ok with it, but the sit in walkers aren't considered safe anymore. They cause hip problems and babies fall down stairs, etc. they're actually banned in Canada for those reasons.

I think you might be mixing up two products because if you want something stationary that wouldn’t be a walker? They have activity tables that you can put babies in where they can stand and spin around and play with the toys on the outside - those are fine for short periods of time.

Push walkers and activity tables with a sit in the middle have been discouraged to use as they cause hip issues and actually delay walking. The nurses in australia that run mother's group from the child and family department talked to us about unsafe toys and those were mentioned. When my son was interested in standing i bought him a head pillow backpack just to avoid accidents. He also has a playpen with a 4mm thickness mat so if he falls its not going to cause a head injury.

Wooden push walkers are heavier than plastic so I would get a wooden push walker. He also had a wooden activity table that he stood up on and walked around - nothing to sit “in” though. One he stands up and plays with, the other he pushes. He was a floor baby and free roam baby he didn’t like to be “in” anything besides his high chair, to eat.

My LO is using this right now. It’s a balance table that promotes pulling up to stand and walking. He sits or stands to play at it too . We put toys that have a suction cup at the bottom on it and they stick to the table surface.

My baby started showing signs of wanted to walk since he was 5 mo, standing in everything that he could to move around and we got a playpen like 6'x6' and put a mat under so he would grab the borders and walk around it and no problem when he fell because the mat being a bit cushiony

haha why do they always like the cheap stuff? Bought my son an expensive baby swing, hates it of course. Bought him a $25 little seat that bounces a little and has a toy in front and he loves it! 🙈

you’re right I’m thinking of two separate products, thanks!

thanks! Any issues with falling over either wooden product? I like the idea of the heavier item but I’m worried about him hitting himself on a hard surface.

how old is he? I’m so worried about him falling on the wooden floor or hitting himself on a push walker. Motherhood has made me paranoid 😆

that is a good idea, keeps baby isolated to one area to explore. I don’t have that much floor space but maybe I can find one that fits my space, thanks for sharing!

no because it’s heavier, it goes slower on hardwood flooring, they actually have more balance compared to a plastic one that goes too fast.

@Tyy oh goodness, honestly though haha
