is this normal

i’m a ftm and not sure if this is normal or not, my LO is 25 days old today and currently on around 5/6oz, sometimes he’ll cry for more so we make him an extra 2oz but recently he’s only been drinking around 6oz, then wanting more a few hours later but only drinking around 2.5oz/3oz and it keeps fluctuating between, same with the hours between. sorry if this doesn’t make sense lol it did in my head

Could he have a sore tummy? It is normal for fluctuating amounts but generally they should be around the same amount each feed. With babies if they have a sore tummy, they can think they’re hungry and show hunger queues. Maybe try doing some tummy time and belly rubs etc just to see if that helps instead of giving a bottle right away when they’re looking for more. Try just soothing and cuddles too. If he’s still showing hunger queues then course get a bottle but with a try x

6oz is a lot for a baby so young. He might be crying for another reason, as mentioned above.

Could be wind, sore tummy, or just comfort. Does he have a dummy? I found my LG was doing this and when I gave her a dummy she would then settle.

Is the top up feed a comfort thing? Mines breast fed and we’ve introduced a dummy as he was on the boob for comfort rather than feeding. Also could it be a growth spurt causing him to want an extra top up? Not sure if there’s any sense behind these, just ideas x

will it hurt him if i keep feeding him so much? my midwife has said it’s perfectly normal and he’s just a hungry baby as ever since he was born he’s been drinking a lot, his first night in hospital he drank around 2-3oz, he has a dummy but will just spit out and just want more food, it only seems to be during the day he drinking so much as at night he’ll only take about 3/4oz xx
