I feel like I’m successfully there with naps in the cot now. At first we were only doing contact naps cos that was the only way he would settle but I was fed up of not getting anything done and like you wanted him to get used to the bed before he was in there all night. Have you heard of the “pick up, put down” method? That seemed to work for us. Basically I would put him in his cot and he thought it was playtime. I would sit in the chair and watch until he started whinging then I would stroke his head and shh him. If it escalated to proper crying I would pick him up, settle him and gently put him back down going back to stroking his head. First few times it took me 50 minutes to get just 10 minute nap out of him and it was so hard. That went on for about a week then the naps started getting longer. We get about 30 minutes to an hour out of him now and takes 10-20 minutes to settle him in there depending on how tired he is. I hope that helps? Not easy but consistency is key
I have managed a 35 minute nap and a 25 minute so far. No special tricks though, I cuddle and rock her until she falls asleep (after boob), then bend right in the cot and gently lower her bum first whilst shhing. Not much help I know 😅 it’s all about patience and silence and slowness… and then if you’re like me, your 3 year old walks in and wakes her up anyway 🥲😆
Following because I’m in the same boat🥲
So I did all contact naps until 5 months except the first one of the day which i did on my bed so I know this isn't exactly the same, but to get her to nap on my bed I used to rock and transfer then slowly started putting her down and holding her hands till she fell asleep and gave her a muslin to cuddle, if she cried I picked her up and rocked and transferred but that got less and less and eventually just fell asleep holding my hands. At 5 months I then moved this nap to her cot and she adapted fine so I moved the rest of her naps there too. Now she loves sleeping in there and always falls asleep just by having her hands held x
Following for advice on the same boat. Also any idea as for transferring to cot we co sleep. I’ve tried past 2 nights and she’s woken after 30mins
