Stopping night feeds??

Hi girls, I’m at my absolute wits end so any help or advice would be appreciated. My 10 month old is usually so good throughout the day and has naturally dropped bottles. However he’s having these bottles 3 times through the night!!! And he doesn’t just wake up and moan he wakes up literally screaming and whatever we try the only thing that gets him back to sleep is a bottle. I’ve tried not giving one and just soothing him, I’ve tried just water, I’ve tried giving him a bottle in the day to make sure he’s full but he always pushes it away. He has 3 meals a day! Breakfast, a snack plate of random bits and bobs and then a relatively big dinner for his age to make sure he’s full. He’s not really fussy with food he will eat most things. I just don’t know what to do to stop the night feeds and I’m going back to bed in tears as I’m so tired (and pregnant so hormonal lol). He’s such a happy little guy usually

It sounds to me like he’s perhaps not actually hungry but has developed a sleep association with the bottle. Does he have any other sleep aids like white noise or something? I would try adding a sleep aid of some such on top of the bottle, and then slowly swap them out. Maybe try a certain piece of music/sound when he’s having that night feed then try and gradually reduce the bottle until the sound becomes the comfort instead

@Beth he has a polar bear which lights up with like a little star pattern and plays music which he has on every night and he has just a nightlight that has space related pictures that slowly spin around the room xx

Perhaps try no light?? Mine girl is the same age and I feel like her her awareness/intelligence has leapt up recently and any light at all when she reaches the lightest phase of her sleep cycle will have her up and struggling to go back down Are his naps good in the day?

@Beth I’ll give this a try tonight! His naps are fine, he has a 2 hour morning nap and a 1/1.5 hours afternoon nap. I won’t let him sleep past 4pm as we then struggle even more to get him to bed. We’ve tried the routine bath, bottle, bed as well.

Let me know how it goes! Sounds very much like he’s just not cracked how to settle himself back down bless him! Stay strong, he must just miss your company ❤️

@Beth seemed to go to sleep quicker without a light but still woke up for a bottle. Less than usual though!! So a little bit of progress xx

Aww amazing! Any progress is great. I think the general recommendation is that you should repeat any new tactic for at least a week to see if you’ve cracked it. But a week feels like a life time with no sleep I appreciate x
