Hey does anyone know if we can pay to have our own room in st Mary’s after birth?

Following this thread eagerly 😂

I highly doubt it since it’s an NHS funded hospital not a private one but would love to see what other people say

No you can’t!
I asked that question, it’s only for people with multiples or people with infections etc

I had an emergency section after a traumatic birth and we had a private room for the 3 days we were there. I’m pretty sure we’d have been on a communal ward if the birth had went smoothly though.

I’ve had two babies there at different times had severe complications with one and was not given a private room at any was in normal bay- I will say highly frustrating

No you can’t . After Covid all that changed
just thought I’d ask because I’ve heard some nhs funded hospitals do have private rooms. Apparently Oldham has them so thought I’d see if st Mary’s did 🤣
It would be nice not having to share a bathroom lol x

Yeah there was the option where I had my son in London too. Never mind ay!

I had my own room @ Oldham - but I didn’t pay. I just asked if they had it available after my c section & they did :)
wishing I picked Oldham now 😂

I was given my own room at St Mary’s on night 2 after birth when we had to stay for another 2 nights. I’d already been in hospital for 3 nights before birth though with my induction so I was so sleep deprived. I think it totally depends on your circumstances and if they have the room. They did say the rooms are usually reserved for people with multiple babies or people with babies in the NICU. Hopefully you won’t need to stay in long as the shared ward is brutal, especially night 2 when the babies all find their voices 🥲
thank you for this information. When I had my son we were only in for 48 hours so it wasn’t too bad it was just hard for my mum to visit the woman in the bay next to me kept complaining about my mum’s wheels being on her side of the bay (my mums in an electric wheelchair) I don’t really want that again! Tbf the woman moaned about everything even babies crying at night
