Potty training refusal

My LO is very stubborn and can likely sense that we really really really want her to be potty trained. She will sit on the potty, she’ll pee, she’ll poop. She even initiates it herself from time to time, but refuses to follow a routine at home. She’s in preschool and they were changing her pull-ups on a changing table for a while and we had to plead for them to stop doing that to avoid confusing her (we’ve been doing standing changes for a while). We’ve had spurts where we pushed really hard, we’ve given her space and taken the pressure off, but like now that it’s turning into crunch time (so many limitations with school and summer care for non-potty trained 3yr olds), I’m freaking out and trying to push her again. She had spring break coming up so I’m hoping to go hard then since she’s gonna be home w me and I can do bare butt approach (lord help me), but I’m feeling so so frustrated and everything online says to either be consistent and push hard OR to fall back. And I’m so lost which is best. Both haven’t worked.

Just be consistent. What worked for us is 60min reminders-if he didn't go then we reminded at 30mins. If he peed on a toy, the toy had to go away for cleaning (only done at night so he didn't get it back til next day). We also did potty treats, some do sticker charts.
Lean in ti what has worked in the past and don't let up on it.

What worked for us was truely backing off. I went to a class from my pediatrician and they said this is about empowering our children more than training them. We were told to tell our kids, I have a new job for you. You are the boss of your body. And what that means is you are responsible to listen to and take care of your body. Taking care of it means keeping it clean and putting your poop and pee in the potty because that is where it needs to go. And then letting them tell you when they need to go. I still help a bit with the clothes and making sure he goes first thing in the morning and before bed and if we are headed somewhere without a bathroom. But she probably can feel your pressure.

Honestly mine fully potty trained with the treat system and positive reinforcement. Every child is different, but it seems like yours is already 90% of the way. My advice? Ditch pull ups, they feel too much like a diaper, commit fully to panties, (except at night)
Accidents are going to happen, just dedicate this whole time to getting it down.

yes that’s the other part. I read it’s confusing for them to switch back and forth between pullups and underwear, but she’s in pull-ups at school and we do underwear when she gets home from school until bedtime. She had spring break coming up so I’m trying to go full days of no pullups. Thank you!

I would drop the pull ups at school. Or daughter was potty trained right before she turned two, then regressed a few months later after we moved (which we expected). We used pull ups after our move, and once we were settled for a few months, we figured she’d kinda bounce back into using the potty, but she didn’t. She’s in preschool as well, and her teacher recommended that we just completely drop the pull ups (other than bedtime). We dropped them and she was back on track using the potty within a day. Consistency is definitely the way to go!

Update: we kept her in underwear during day since Fri afternoon and had a few accidents along the way, but got to the point where we felt comfortable taking her out of the house in underwear and just taking her to the bathroom frequently. Still waiting for more of the initiation to come from her side, but she did a fairly good job at staying dry. Hoping teachers will be on same page and let us send her in underwear and help push her at school too.

We have been in underwear with little to no accidents! She’s been going to school and asking to go as well as going when taken. Staying dry and refusing pull-ups now bc “they’re for babies”. 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
