Anxiety around 8 week vaccines

Is anyone else dreading taking their little one for their vaccines? I’ve booked my little boy in and I could really see it far enough. I dread seeing my little boy in pain getting them done and then the aftermath of possible temp etc. I’ve also seen people saying online about how they lost their baby to SIDS soon after getting their vaccines. I generally don’t listen to that kind of thing as I’m not an anti-vaxxer at all, but as someone who has so much anxiety around SIDS already (honestly who doesn’t?), it’s hard to just forget seeing that and not worry. Is anyone else on the same boat about the vaccines? Im generally a super anxious person anyway, so probably am just driving myself crazy.

Also, happy Mother’s Day to us new mums 🌷

I feel the exact same, I’m torn about whether I do let him have the vaccines or not. I don’t want the side effects but I also don’t want to deny him the vaccines that could potentially help him if he needs in the future.

It’s such a difficult decision to make and completely understandable why you’re feeling anxious, my little ones are due in the next 2 weeks and I’m no closer to a decision xx

At this age you will probably find that your baby copes far better with it than you think. Of course it's not nice to see our babies ill or in pain but that's more reason to have them done to prevent them from getting ill. With my first he was fine with needles at this age, he didn't get a temperature, I gave him the calpol as instructed. He did get a dodgy tummy from the rotavirus immunisation and we would just have cuddles and contact naps for the two days after but then it passes. There's no evidence to support that vaccines increase risk of SIDS https://www.lullabytrust.org.uk/baby-safety/infection-and-illness/vaccinations-and-sids/ there may be babies who have sadly passed from SIDS after they have had their vaccines but this doesn't mean the SIDS was caused by them.

My little one had her first lot of jabs at the beginning of this week. I was terrified for her but she coped really well. She cried, don’t get me wrong, but it was so short lived. I was so proud of her! She had paracetamol and didn’t spike a temp, she was a little fussy for a couple of days but nothing to write home about. Like everything, you really only hear all the negatives about things like vaccines etc, no one ever talks about it if it was uneventful. X

My little one was fine when she had her jabs, no signs of illness after at all. In my opinion it’s better she is protected when going out in the world especially as vaccination rates have dropped …. Feel like they are more vulnerable and have less protection from herd immunity rn x
