My son is 17 months and I just noticed today that he was walking on his toes on and off. He has never walked like this when he started walking. I went to dr google and they mentioned autism now I’m a little worried.
Is this normal ?

Has he shown any other signs of autism? My son has delayed speech which is a sign of autism, but it can also be totally normal.
he has shown no other signs of autism

It’s totally normal for kids to explore walking on their toes. It is actually a skill we look for in development. The concern is if they are doing it all the time. If you see them doing it more than 50% of the time for a couple weeks I might see about getting an evaluation for PT. But just doing a little standing or walking on the toes throughout the day is totally normal.

I worked with kids with autism for 6+ years and my daughter does this. Mentioned to my boss and she said this is normal for little kids learning to walk and new to walking and you have no need to worry if there aren’t other signs of autism
