Hi all, I really need some advice. I've kicked my partner out for cheating but I'm staying in our home we have a shared ownership on. I'm applying for UC as I'm about to go on maternity leave. My ex is going to be renting somewhere so won't be able to afford to help with the mortgage portion. What do I do? I don't want to sell and uproot them from their home x

I'm not sure if all lenders are the same but our bank does offer a mortgage holiday if absolutely needed where you can miss a few payments but you have to then pay it back later, it wouldn't extend your mortgage term

I don’t think you can get the housing element of UC for a mortgage. Might be worth calling citizens advice maybe.

Once your uc has been set up you can claim an advance payment to help with cost of mortgage and what not, they also cover most/all rent depending on circumstances, don’t stress too much they’ll help out financially if you explain your situation 🩷
