Our dietitian wants us to start again with a bit of milk based formula. She’s on purely the amino acid based formula as we had to go further down the cmpa ladder. Started on Nutramigen and now on Neocate.
I’m nervous, it’s been such a journey just to get to this point 😥 but she’s 7 months and she’s eating a bit of food now so it’s time.
Any tips, advice or just some morel support xx

I feel you, I haven't started on the milk ladder yet and my baby is 11 months, I'm so bloody scared as it was so horrible to see my babh so uncomfortable during the process of figuring out what was wring I don't want to go back to that again. But I know I will have to start the ladder soon! Good luck to you and let us know how it goes xx

Have you tested all allergens yet? If not I would question adding it formula. You would be unable to identify if a reaction was as a result of the formula or a new food.
Look up the milk challenge. This is how the formula should be reintroduced replacing one scoop in the first bottle of the day and increasing by a scoop a day until the whole first bottle is normal formula. The dietician really should have given better advice
After weaning has started the general advice is to wait until 9-12 months and do the milk ladder

I second what ceri-ann has said
You shouldn't be doing the milk challenge after you've started weaning
You'll now have to wait until 9-12 months for the milk ladder instead

With all due respect ladies this is advice from our dietitian at the hospitals who’s been following our journey since our baby was 4 weeks. And of course she’s sent me over the instructions via email of how many scoops and we had a face to face appointment to discuss how to do it etc..
We have done all the other allergen based foods now. This is an allergen so we’re re introducing to see if our baby has a reaction. If she doesn’t have a reaction then we will be trying her with milk based foods eventually. That’s the whole of point, it’s to see if she reacts again.
As mentioned just looking for anyone who’s been here and I’d love to hear how it went and if anyone had any tips.

Thanks I hope it goes well too 🤞

we wouldn’t mix two allergens together. We’re eliminating one by one, now’s it’s milks turn to be added back

in the nicest possible way then why ask for advice if your dietician has given you advice and you’re going to do what they’ve told you.
You literally asked for tips and advice and you were given the advice regarding the standard nhs pathway that your dietician is deviating from (which may be their trusts guidance)
We reintroduced via the milk challenge a few weeks ago prior to weaning and failed on day 3

Look, I was asking for experiences and how people found it that’s all.
Now that you’ve shared yous, I’m sorry to hear it failed on day three, that must have been disappointing. At least you know where you stand though
