Baby cried a lot at first day in nursery after a diaper change :(

It was just a 2 hr session and apparently my 11mo was fine playing around for the first 1.5 hrs. But then they took him to change his diaper and apparently he didn’t like it at all and cried a lot. When I picked him up 20 mins later he was in the arms of his key person still crying and I was heartbroken at that sight. I keep playing scenes in my mind of him being held down and changed by a stranger and probably being scared. Do you mamas think it is worth even asking the key person to show me how she held him while changing him, whether she forced him down, whether he might have been hurt etc so I can put my mind at ease or am I overreacting?

It's probably just because it was someone unfamiliar if it helps my boy cried for his first nappy change but had a session on Friday and was absolutely fine with her changing him

I very highly doubt she’s forced him down. And I very highly doubt she hurt him, children at that age become very familiar with faces and it’s probably a case of anxiety and nerves because he doesn’t know her well just yet, but i definitely wouldn’t jump as far to as blame the nursery straight off the bat, so I’d say yes, you were definitely overreacting, but I understand why because it’s his first time, and you’re a nervous mum and it’s hard seeing them like that on the first time they’ve been there, my 11 month old screams no matter who changes her nappy including me, she just hates nappy change time lol she hates being laid down, she hates not being able to get up and move, hope that helps x He’ll settle in and be absolutely fine before you know it, but give them a chance first x

Mine cried so much during his settles, hysterical sitting at the table and nappy changes but when he actually started properly he was fine and loves it now. It was probably just because it’s unfamiliar, once he knows it’s safe he’ll be fine. I know it’s tough hun, sending love x

Thank you ladies for the reassurance! Xx
