Genuine question - why do you want to introduce something before the recommended age? I’ve seen this with people introducing solids, weaning and more and I’m trying to understand what the motive is.
@Charis My son’s sleep is awful and i’ve heard that introducing a duvet and pillow can sometimes help I haven’t done anything else early (haven’t done the pillow or duvet yet either but was curious)
The pillow definitely helped my eldest, he seemed to sleep better propped up x
Glad I asked as I might give it a try then!😁
@Sophie What age did you give him a pillow? x
He was 11 months x
Nope, my 3 year old wriggles around so much in bed that she never stays on her pillow so it didn’t make a blind bit of difference to her sleep, and she still kicks the duvet off and wakes up cos she’s cold 😂 I’d stick to the sleeping bag for now
With my eldest we did pillow from 14 months due to hoping it'd help with a cold and duvet around 18 months as he'd grown out of his sleeping bag so was a good opportunity. He didn't stay on his pillow for months and it also took months (around 4/5) for him to sleep under the duvet. We had to go in and put it back on when we went to bed and hope for the best overnight. It might mean more wakes for your lo if they get cold. Unless they stay still of course.
Not yet with my youngest, he was 10 months Saturday gone. But my eldest had a pillow from about 11 months and he would still just wear his sleeping bag. Then we introduced the duvet about 18 months because he kept walking around his cot in his sleeping bag and falling over so it was more dangerous to keep him in the sleeping bag. We had quite a few months of having to go in and cover him back up as he was wriggle out of it and not pull it back over himself, so would wake up cold. But by about 22 months roughly, he would pull the quilt over himself. This then helped with the transition to a bed, he didnt actually move into his bed until he was 2.5 years and that was only because we needed the cot for his little brother, he loved his cot and never once tried to climb out😅 x
