Potty training out and about

Well our first attempt at potty training was a fail as I gave up after weeks of struggling with it so I’m no expert but yep I used to crack the travel potty out anywhere and everywhere, my LO wasn’t able too hold onto it and I really didn’t want him getting confused by me putting him back in nappies

@Emer thank you. Hopefully your LO will be ready soon. I had a few false starts before this time. I found the OH Crap potty training book useful.

We’ve been toilet training for almost 2 weeks. If walking I wouldn’t go too far and just make sure LO has a wee before you go. Does the library have a toilet so that’s there once you get there? My LO is loads better at asking for toilet when we’re out the house rather than at home 😂 it’s great and not so great at the same time

@Kayleigh Yeah I was following the oh crap book but after a great start it all went pear shaped. I’m giving my sanity a break till the warmer weather before we try again

@Hannah Johnson thank you. No the library doesn’t have a toilet. It is just across the road from me though. May trial a short walk first.

@Emer oh no! That’s not good. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen. It has been going really well but worried it will go wrong when we go out or he goes to the childminder!

Following as I’m also not sure what to do. We have a my carry potty but I don’t know if I would just let he go in the middle of the shop? I’m also worried about her privacy

We managed to go to the shop today and later on the park for an hour and he didn’t need to go. Going to do a 5 minute trip in the car tomorrow. I took my potty each time but still nervous for the first time he asks to go while out

We just take the potty with us and have continued it that way, we never stopped it from letting us carry on as normal and if he had an accident then just change his clothes. He’s used his potty in the boot of the car, side of pavement ect. Just take them to the quietest place possible where you are. We’ve been toilet training for 2 weeks now and are pretty much done. He hasn’t had an accident since the first week, he is a quick learner but I think we haven’t made a big thing about the transition of using the potty when indoors or outdoors and tried to make it the same thing. @Stacey thank you. We are nearly at the 2 week mark and 3 days without an accident. We were able to go to an activity farm for most of the day with no problem. Still a bit nervous about shops but so far going well inside and outside the house. He’s out with his childminder all day today so will see how that goes.
