Teething?

Hey mamas 👋🏽 My baby girl is two months and she started to only put her left hand in her mouth and she also salivates a lot like drooling. Is this normal at this age? Also is she teething? My mom says it might be but I think it’s too early.. she constantly put her hand in her mouth .. just a little concerned

Maybe because she’s hungry? Have you gave her milk and does she take it or is she fussy ?

I noticed the same with my daughter who just turned 2 months this past Saturday. We just had her two month check up today and the doctor said it’s normal! I had her check to see if she had any teeth coming in and she didn’t. She said typically their bottom teeth will come in between 6-9 months but that every child has their own time line and it can definitely happen earlier.

@Lindsey yeah.. but I am formula feeding her I was told to only give her every 3 hours 🫤 but I notice she wants to eat more like every 2 hours

Yess my baby is two months as well and she just started putting her fists in her mouth and it doesn’t seem as if she wants the bottle. I asked the doctor if it could be bc she’s teething she said too early for teething but it could be self soothing

@Karissa that’s good to hear! Yeah I did google it, it did say it’s self soothing and practicing using their hands and mouth

Omggg I’m so relieved to hear everybody is going through the same thing! Love the reassurance in this app 🥰 it might just be a milestone!

@Stephanie definitely self soothing! She does it when she’s just ate so I know she isn’t hungry. She’s been doing it since she was born but the drooling just started a couple weeks ago and it’s so much 🫠

My daughter just turned 2 months today and currently is bubbling and slobbering in costco with a sopping wet sleeve and wondered if it was normal lol

@Karissa We still keep my daughter in mittens or the fold over sleeves since her nails grow so fast, so her hands are constantly soaked lately. Just a heads up, I noticed the other day she gets so much nasty build up between her little fingers from the lint on her clothes and the drool. I apparently scrubbing her hands and soaking her in the bath wasn’t enough. I had to go in between each finger with a q-tip 😅

They can be drooling a long time before their first tooth really shows up

@Karissa my girl mitten is soaked in this very moment too! I reached out to the pediatrician she said it’s completely normal lol

Mine is doing the same thing shes just a little over 2 months also. And its when she isnt hungry either.

Hi! I noticed an increase in drool from my baby last week as well then read on one of my apps that shares weekly updates for baby development that “it's common for babies around 8 weeks to start drooling as their salivary glands develop and they begin exploring their mouths and putting things in them, even though they're not yet teething”

Babies do this to self soothe, not always bc they’re hungry. Completely normal! My baby is 7 weeks and has begun to do the same

My babys doing the same and shes 2 months! Eating every 2 hours during the day! Completely normal

@Alanna are u BF or formula? Cause my baby is on formula not sure if I should give her every two hours. I did notice her appetite increase too!

Shes on formula! Kendamil, I feed her usually every 2 hours during the day and sometimes even every hour ! I usually feed whenever she starts showing signs of hunger

They say its usually because theyre going through a growth spurt! So I wouldnt worry much
