Also, will definitely be getting what I can on EBay, Facebook Marketplace, Vinted, charity shops etc :)
For me mam bottles anti collic, a soother so the set. Definitely a comforter, Moses basket or next to me crib I had both but my baby preferred Moses. A baby bath an enclosed one. Tommie tippie bottle prep machine for sure
I’m in tonbridge, look on marketplace always things going on there x
Vinted is brilliant. Dont overbuy clothes, they grow up very quickly. Buy them from Vinted instead. If youre breastfeeding and planning on using a breastpump, no need to buy something expensive but a handsfree is a definitely better.
Vinted clothes bundles are amazing! I’ve not bought one because my mum has been obsessed with buying clothes and I’ve been very fortunate to have a friend with a one year old so I’m getting all of her cast offs, but they’re such good value! Speaking as someone who hates spending money on things that I know won’t last forever
Also check out charity shops near you for clothes - they're often same price as Vinted but you don't need to pay for shipping! For us a white noise machine, and the purflo baby bed (https://purflo.com/the-sleep-tight-baby-bed/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2N2_BhCAARIsAK4pEkU7jq0S7swdb8Sfmd2yGyotOGOdde3nr8Kv4ZLIS9oIP1cmTjMTmfcaAkx7EALw_wcB) were our must haves, and lots of Muslins. x
Loads of bibs and muslin cloths. Plenty of dummies. Wet bags for dirty clothes when you're out and about. If bottle feeding, the Tommy Tippee prep machine has been an absolute life saver for us, takes the time to make a bottle down from 40 minutes using the NHS method to around 4 minutes. When your baby is screaming for milk, that machine will make your life feel much less torturous! They're £90 new (family members chipped in for one for us) but you can find them on Facebook Marketplace - although I'd get a new filter if getting secondhand. For clothes, we've got all of ours from charity shops, they're so cheap and you can still get some lovely stuff. Don't bother with any toys or books, they're just interested in black and white, shadows, and light at first.
Moses basket with rocking base omg game changer second hand ofcourse ours was 20 Baby sling or carrier from Amazon we found one for 15 Kiss bobo wearable Brest pumps cheapest wearables I have found 70 for a set have survived exclusive pumping for me and induced over supply so we have saved money on formula Bottles we just got the £1 ones from Asda and it’s been no issue we tried Tom tippee the test collapses and cuts off flow and mam was too many pieces we just make sure to take breaks and burp him well Rotary nail trimmer was gifted but I would happily pay a lot babys are so scratchy with long nails our boy started drawing blood and with nail clippers he nearly lost the end of his finger never again
I bought a lot of stuff from TJ Maxx, but these are my registries, everything that’s under the purchased tab has been tried, used, and loved by me (even if you’re not planning on having a baby shower you can make a registry to get the free sample bag- Targets was AMAZING, and get their discounts): Elizabeth R and Matthias Maidana's Baby Registry https://www.amazon.com/baby-reg/elizabeth-r-matthias-maidana-january-2025-germantown/9SIKLW5TXKVJ?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_W3X0FYQECYEAN51RZ7QF&language=en_US I just created a baby registry at Target, take a look! https://www.target.com/gift-registry/gift/baby-registry-011125
More bibs than you'd ever think you need. Vinted is a dream. Tbh. I bought a baby care cot with nail stuff. I've hardly used it and I just bite her nails while I'm BF Her because I've caught her skin twice. If I need it I use white or brown noise playlist on Spotify on my phone so I wouldn't worry about one of those. You won't need a monitor for a while. My baby is 6 months on the 21st and I've only just got a camera and still not using it because she's in with me and never goes down for a sleep alone yet. If people want to buy gifts there's an Amazon wishlist you can set up and you can send them the list. You get notified when someone's bought something on there. DON'T buy a next to me crib new. Ours was 35 quid on FB marketplace and it hardly been used at all. A new mattress then is like 20 quid on Amazon where as they start at around 130 new. Vinted and if there's a baby bank near you on FB will be your best friend!
Hey love! I just so happened to click on this post and your profile and see you are from the same area as me! I have a little girl (who wears mostly neutral colours ) and I bought so much stuff off vinted (clothes) that I’ll be getting rid of soon if you want some bits! I’d rather gift them to someone, or they’ll be going to the charity shop x
definitely use vinted like others have said - i've bought everything for my girls on there. must haves for me have been an electric nail file like someone else mentioned, and a good carrier - i got my current tula one for about £100 but with my first i had a secondhand ergo from vinted which i loved!
Don't spend your money on a prep machine, you don't need one and they're not recommended by the NHS anyway (a bug study shown they're not safe). Also, use the bassinet from your pram as a sleeping area for downstairs, you don't need a separate crib for upstairs and downstairs. I bought my pram off FB Marketplace, use Vinted for bundles of baby clothes.
I got a konny baby carrier on Vinted and its game changer. Baby bjorn too is the same.

• a pram of course, ickle bubba is a great brand of prams that are affordable if you want it brand new. • bottles & slow flow teats to start with. mam bottles are great and i’d say on the affordable side for value. • bottle brush (i bought mine from amazon for like £3!) • nappies, wipes & nappy rash cream (fred&flo nappies are great affordable nappies, weleda have a great long lasting nappy rash cream) • a healthcare kit (i got mine for £8 from amazon, these have things like a thermometer, nail cutter, nose sucker etc) • blankets (you can get them from amazon in sets or primark for cheap!) • dummies & dummy clips (nuk brand were great for us, accessible and cheap on amazon, and dummy clip sets for a few pounds) • soft towels (best bought in person from somewhere like primark or poundland) • bedside crib (you can get it second hand and then buy a new mattress/cot sheets red kite cribs are on the cheaper side if you want it all new)
We only ever had 1 stroller & it was a jogging stroller, son is 2 now & we still use it- it's all terrain so it goes anywhere! It's a lil bigger than a non jogger but I don't regret it We almost never used bibs, not sure why ppl use them other than for eating...maybe big droolers? lol & when he started eating we used the bibs but got tired of the extra item to wash & his clothes still got dirty so we just had son eat shirtless lol it's easy!
I wouldn’t bother buying mittens. Most babygrows have them now so mittens are no longer used by many people. I’ve got quite a few and not used any of them. I’d also limit how many outerwear clothes you get because we’ve not used quite a few of them and she’s outgrown them now. Wouldn’t buy any fancy bathtubs. A standard baby bath tub is much cheaper and the same. Avoid buying toys too, not something they need till they’re older. Baby vests from Asda have been good use as they’re multipack and good quality. They wash well. Also may not need a changing table depending on what you have at home. If you’re able to sit on the floor and put a changing mat down to change little one instead. I struggle with physically getting on and off the floor so I needed to get a changing table otherwise I wouldn’t have done.
Vinted is good ! I'm currently selling our moses basket and stand on there if interested. Username: saminasafrin
Asda are amazing for multipacks! And I second Vinted and fb marketplace for furniture etc - I bought almost all of my boys stuff second hand.
In Scotland we get a free baby box. If you go onto Facebook there is a page that people donate the box or some of the items from it that they don’t need so you might be able to get some freebies.
Snot sucker and cold mist humidifier. Also a white noise machine was a must for us. Lots and lots of bibs and Muslins and zip up pjs. Nothing worse than messing with buttons in the dark 😂
Nappy caddy and a baby carrier x
