I’m so confused ya’ll. My daughter will be 9 months when starting nursery, late spring / early summer, and I have no idea how to dress her.
Are shorts ok or are long trousers better?
I’m just thinking in terms of crawling around, outside play etc.
She doesn’t walk yet but is so close and probably will do by then.

I would put in trousers until walking. A lot of nurseries have wooden floors

At that age I would put either regular or cropped leggings in that situation. Coz she’s in a day care environment it would probably better to have some fabric over her knees when crawling around. Last summer, my daughter was 2 but I still put short leggings on if when went to the park to reduce the chance of bloody knees

I wouldn’t overthink this, I would just dress according to the weather.
If you think she’d be too hot in leggings then put her in shorts.
I hate being hot though! 😅

I always put on trousers and the knees get destroyed. Don't want to imagine what would happen to the actual skin.

I sent my girl that age in crop leggings. Just to protect her knees when crawling and keep her legs covered in the garden ☺️ hot days though, definitely shorts

Thank you 😁
She’s a summer baby and hates clothes even in winter which is why I thought shorts might be a good solution for her.
I’ll try out some shorter leggings too and see how she gets on with the different options. I didn’t even consider that these were an option lol.

there’s tons at the moment in Sainsbury’s and Primark

I wouldn't do shorts in case the nursey/daycare has hard floors or toys on the ground. Also, for outside time in case of grass. So maybe capris or just trousers like you say. Jeans maybe too.

Trousers better if not walking

Bring both - daycare can dress her according to what they see/feel is right

I would always do leggings or trousers as its usually cooler in the mornings, and include some options in her bag so they can use their best judgment 😊
