Baby sleep

I’m conflicted my baby is 4 weeks old tomorrow. When I had him weighed last Tuesday he was 7 pound 8. He has been sleeping under celluar blankets because he has been to small for all the sleep bags that we have. However he has now started being able to kick the blankets off which fills me with anxiety I have brought a love to dream swaddle but it’s from 8 pounds but we don’t have an appointment to get him weighed etc until the end of April. Do you think it is safe to put him in it to sleep or should we wait?

Tomee tippee sleep sacks can start from 7lb. That’s what we’ve used for our little girl from birth. Lots of people sell them second hand in great condition from Vinted xxx

For reference our little girl was born at 7lb.3oz

I would say not safe if there is even a slight chance baby’s head could sink into it

Purflo swaddle/sleep bags are from 6.6lbs can recommend as my little boy is only 7.5 and it doesn't move on him and he wiggles so much

Put him in it and see. As long as he can’t pull his head down through the hole it’s fine. My girl has a really little head and is on the smaller side so I struggled with her to start with so just kept testing until she was ok ☺️

I was able to use the love to dream one straight away with a 7lb 14oz baby as her head couldn’t sink through, Asda do one that was even smaller for about £5. I couldn’t use the tommee tippee one straight away as it was quite big but they are definitely worth it for long term. Wash it a couple of times and it will shrink a bit. You could always try it for a nap while you’re awake x

We’ve been using the love to dream newborn swaddles, our baby was born weighing 6lb11 and now weighs 8lb and she’s been all good in the newborn one x

We just use quilted sleep suits - like a little set of pjs ☺️ works really well x
