My toddler still coughs when drinking water
Hi! My toddler is 16 months and continues to cough when she takes a sip of water. We use a straw, open cup, and/or straight from a plastic water bottle. We tried the 360 cup but she doesn’t know how to use it. She can drink it in the car with a straw cup just fine when she’s in her car seat, but last two weeks she refuses to even drink it. She doesn’t cough with milk. Any suggestions? Anyone else baby doing this? I wasn’t worried until i did a google search. Anyone know what it could be related to, i dont know if i should stop giving her water - im afraid of aspiration.

My son still does it when he drinks from an open cup but for the most part he's ok with straws.
I'm sure it's fine. I would just keep letting her try and she'll figure it out

I cough sometimes drinking water 😂
I can assure you babies in other countries manage to drink water eventually even with just cups as the vessel.
So rest assured toddler will be just fine! They won't aspirate just maybe cough a bit till they get it!
