Potty training my son

How have you all potty trained your sons? I have no idea what I’m doing to be honest. I am asking him if he needs to go for a wee or poo every so often and taking him to his potty. Sometimes he does wee sometimes he doesn’t which is fine but is that all I need to be doing? I am encouraging him to drink more so then he will need to wee more to get the ‘practise’ in with toileting but I feel like there is more too it.

I’m planning to start Thursday for the long weekend and too feel completely clueless and a bit nervous

my son just started showing signs before he needed a wee or poo i noticed he would say things like “ my tummy hurts “ so i started getting him to use the toilet then one day just went cold turkey and sent him into nursery without a nappy , he only had a few accidents but getting them into clothes without nappy they will learn quicker , just make sure u bring lots of spare clothes with u and be prepared for a few accidents on the first few days and just try stick to no nappy , i do still put a nappy on him at night tho as i dont think he’s that ready yet , also try a sticker chart so whenever he uses the loo really make a big deal out of it and make it fun and collecting stickers xx

I used the book oh crap potty training and did it over a long weekend, there were no signs he was ready and even whilst potty training and me watching him like a hawk I couldn’t see any but he picked it up really quick, just don’t be put off by the first 2/3 days when you feel you are getting no where
