I second Antonia!
You can buy box like covers on Amazon that go around the socket and close it.. it's probably fine for now as they are tiny but I can guarantee baby will go and flick the switch on as they grow so if I were you I would put one of those if the cot can't be moved anywhere else
Can the cot be moved? If not, I think I'd get an electrician round to disable the socket x
@Antonia wow I didn’t know this!
@Antonia can you give more info about this because this is the first time am hearing about this?😳
Plug socket covers, while intended to protect young children from electrical hazards, are generally considered unsafe and should not be used. They can bypass the built-in safety shutters in UK sockets, exposing live contacts and potentially leading to electrocution. Additionally, they may not be compatible with all socket types, potentially damaging the socket and increasing the risk of fire.
@Aisha Ali exactly what Liana says. UK sockets have a shutter mechanism where the live contact is shielded until the Earth (top) pin is plugged in. The plug covers push in the Earth pin disabling the shutter mechanism. If a child plays with them, sometimes the top pin can break off and then another object can be inserted into the live pin leading to electrocution. I'd say very unlikely to happen with a baby in a cot, it's more likely to happen with toddlers or young children who might be experimenting with something like paper clips while potentially less supervised. There is also no standards or testing done (unlike the strict standards for plugs themselves) and the low quality ones are a potential fire risk.

Thanks everyone. Don’t worry I knew not to even consider a plug thing. I’ve gone for a clear box that goes around the whole socket and sticks to the wall. Thanks for all your advice and recommendations. Unfortunately the cot can only go in this space 😢
It's actually the safest to leave them as is, the plug covers make the UK plugs more dangerous
