Newborn bedtimes

My baby currently sleeps from 10/11 until 7 has a feed then he sometimes will go back to sleep for a couple of hours then up at latest around 10/11

What age should I be seeing about a earlier bedtime? What did people do or am I better not risking ruining it

I would honestly just roll with it!

@Kelly it's the downside of social media watching videos of what you "should" be doing and making me doubt what I am doing

They will usually start showing signs of wanting a later bedtime around 4 months ish. It’s totally normal to have a later bedtime for now

At around 4 months your baby’s body clock will start to change and develop and become more adult like so you might find you get into more of a routine then! Atm just go with it :)

We did the same with our daughter until she was around 4 months and showing signs of regression as a really stable routine helped us manage her regression better but it’s each to their own! Every baby is different and as long as they’re getting the right amount of sleep then do what feels natural to you!!

Mines the same. She’s 13 weeks tomorrow and sleeps from around 11-7 almost every night. Had a feed and bum change and then goes back down from around 8-10:30/11.
I’m just following her lead atm. They say baby’s don’t fully apprehend a routine until between 4-6 months so I’m not rushing to form a solid one just yet

We got our little girl into a routine and she was sleeping through from 3 months.
With our little boy it took us a bit longer.
It just depends on the baby. Whilst they are still young just roll with it haha d

@Donna Woods yeah same bedtime routine!

I'm happy with his sleep but I kept reading stuff about bedtimes being earlier

But from what you guys said probably stay same for another month yet

I’d say 4 months was when bedtime became 6/7pm and we implemented a routine based on baby wanting to go to bed then x

@Marissa did it happen gradually or just big jump? X

I’ve kind of let my 9m old take the lead in bedtime.
When he was a newborn-3 months he’d sleep 11pm-10:30am with feeds inbetween.

The last 4 weeks we’ve had a steady routine that he’s chosen himself.
Morning wise needs a little tweak cause getting up at 6.30 most days isn’t good for me 😂

At 3 months mine was still going to bed at 22, it then gradually moved and now at 6 months it's 20-21. Definitely not 19 though LOL I just let him lead, at 18 usually he takes a short nap 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Giorgia I was thinking over next couple months gradually bringing forward to like 8 or 9 but feel 7 way too early i like that he sleeps in a bit at the moment

Avatar

@Gemma I didn't "bring it earlier", he just started going down earlier and I adjusted the routine so that he would be ready for bed by then. I have no idea how people decide a bedtime, I'm not gonna spend half of my evening trying to get him to sleep at a certain time, when I can just wait for him to fall asleep after dinner and then I can watch TV 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd say, when they start getting tired earlier

We didn't bother about an earlier bedtime until LO moved into their own room around 6mo. I didn't see the point before then because they're not supposed to sleep alone. Baby would normally nap with us on the sofa or whatever in the evening before we went to bed
