Working out/exercise post partum

Hi All🌝🌝
I was wondering how everyone was getting back into shape after the 6-8 week check?

I am 10 weeks postpartum and thought to do a little exercise,to not only try to lose some of that sagginess ,but for mental health.
Problem being is my parts really hurt afterwards..
I had a third degree tear and the workout was a standing ab and cardio one for 10 minutes.
I kind of got carried away and tend to neglect the fact that I'm still healing.

Did you workout before you got pregnant? If not then that will affect what and how much exercise you should be doing. Either way you need to ease yourself into it, particularly anything with core as that’s the biggest part of your body that is still healing.
I would try and do some gentler ab exercises- with less reps you’re going to want things that don’t engage your pelvic floor if your still sore after tearing. I’d look on instagram for pp core workouts and see what comes up.

For myself I weight trained 4/5 days a week pre pregnancy and 3/4 days right up to the day I had my son
I started week 5 with some light core after attempting sit ups & realising I wasn’t ready. I’m now back in the gym 3 days a week (childcare allowing) 8 weeks pp. I aim to add a day of core at home into that this week.

I only had 1st degree tears so I healed quite quick down below

I paid privately for a ‘mummy mot’ where they do more thorough internal and external checks to identify any areas that need rehab. They’re quite expensive but I have had one following both my children and really recommend before jumping back in to exercise and causing any additional injury x

no from what I remember pre- pregnancy I was not active and didn't do workouts. And then during pregnancy I was forced to be more, as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
I did yoga and regular walks
I really didn't think about the core!very true.
Thank you for your insight 💜

Hey, I’m a PT and I would defo get a Mummy MOT if you can do! Until then maybe look at more of a steadier approach with things like yoga and Pilates helping to build up the muscles and stretch them before doing too much!
