I’m having a sweep on Monday next week , I had a sweep in my last pregnancy and was successful, is it more likely to be successful this time because it was last time ? I’m worried it’s going to fail this time 🥲
If successful I won’t be a may momma I’ll be an April momma 💖

I’m just about to have my first sweep (2nd pregnancy) my midwife told me they TEND to be more successful in second, third pregnancies as your body know what do to etc. but no science to it!

I had 3 with my 3rd baby and 3rd one worked. Sweeps started at 39 weeks. It all depends on cervix xx

This is a good explanation of how a membrane sweep works. If your cervix isn't at least a little bit dilated then it simply won't work. So it's really hard to tell but you won't know until you try!

I was told they don't usually do sweeps before 39 weeks due to the increased risk of infection, but then another midwife at another appointment said I'd have one at 38 weeks as they don't want me going much over 40 weeks. I had 3 with my first, never worked (he was 8 days late). My second I refused, and he was 3 days late. This one I'm willing to try as would prefer a natural labour to an induced one x
