Milk build up or thrush

Is there any way to tell the difference in milk build up on the tongue or thrush?

The white layer on the tongue seems to change but I've now noticed today that there's a bit of 'milk' at the sides of the mouth.

Will ring Dr tomorrow but just wondering if there is a way to tell the difference.
