Do you mind me asking how many weeks apart your growth scans were? I got my glucose test results back within 24 hours, but I suppose it depends on the hospital. I had a growth scan at 32 weeks because my first baby was born above the 97th centile (no diabetes) – they’re just keeping an eye on whether this baby is measuring similarly. He was average at 32 weeks, but I’ve got another scan booked for 36 weeks, so we’ll see how he’s growing. During my first pregnancy my bump was measuring within normal range until 37 week when it suddenly was measured above the 97th centile and the scan confirmed my baby was already weighing 8lb (3,6kg) at 37+5.
Good to hear they seem quite quick! It's hard to say to be honest, my referral didn't go through properly so I think I should have had today's a week or two ago. Then I have one in exactly 2 weeks but that has been pre booked for months because I have a low lying placenta so not sure if they'd have done it that soon - sorry I'm not help! But they did say they'll do one 2 weeks after my next (so it will have been week 31/33 & 35) Hopefully a good sign if they've left 4 weeks in between them for you
I had a growth scan last Tues and had to re do my glucose test on the Thursday, I got a call Fri morning first thing to say it was positive and had to go and collect a kit to start testing my sugar levels the next day. Got to do the finger prick four times a day and a sugar free diet x
@Charlotte that's quick! Did they say how you get the results if it is negative?
They won't contact if it's negative, only if it's positive x
So mine was Thursday morning and I was told if I didn't hear by Mon then results would have been fine so it only takes a couple of days the most x
Perfect, thank you!
Similar to others, I got a phonecall the next day to let me know it was positive and to collect the kit the same day, and a scan 2 days later. So far I’ve managed to control it through diet (sugar free, low carb, high protein seems to be working atm, however I have heard the further along we get it can become more difficult with diet alone as it’s more to do with third trimester hormone surge which can make the placenta become more resistant). My scans are every 2-3 weeks however I was already high risk anyway due to other factors and already had growth scans pre-booked so don’t know if that makes a difference. Baby has measured around 93rd consistently throughout pregnancy though even before finding out about GD. I have my next scan on Thursday so will be interesting to see if this is still the case now I’ve had a few weeks of having blood sugars under control - or whether baby’s size is also due to genetics (Dad is 6’7). I’ll update you if percentile considerably drops xxx
@Louise seems they are very quick if the test is positive - really hoping it's not 🤞🏼 Yes please, let me know how it goes x
So I took the test on a Friday I knew by Monday lunchtime, they had me tracking my blood sugars the very next day, they are quick with it! After 3 days of a raised fasting sugar (hard to control with diet) I was put on to metformin then after 3 days of that not working they moved me on to insulin injections x
