Hey guys bit of advice really!
My little one came down Poorly Saturday afternoon with a temp of 38.8 and it came down wirh meds and basically his temp has been up down up down wirh calpol without etc.. he’s not eaten much at all! Today he managed to eat a banana and one bit of toast n rice cakes, fluids still okay! Tiny bit of a snotty nose and croaky voice and he’s up n down in himself? Would you take your lo to the doctors or 111 or just leave it?
My worry is last time he had a temp for this long he had a double ear infection and throat infection and we had no idea it was just the croaky nose and temps? He also slept 9-9 last night and was back sleep by 12pm for a nap n went down at 8:40 tonight wirh temp going from 37.8 to 36.5?

Can you ring the gp in the morning and get an appointment to get him checked out? I definitely would. Wishing him a speedy recovery xx

I can do I’m just scared they’ll say viral 🤦🏼♀️ but he’s non verbal suspected asd so he has no understanding if I was to ask him what sore or what wrong so mega hard! I’m hoping he’s settles tonight n when I go in to check on him if it’s high again I think I’m just gunna attempt to get him in x

Hi Jasmine
Oh Bless his heart ❤️
Any temperature that does not resolve with interventions (calpol etc) should be reported to the GP within 12hrs, it could be a sign of infection as you are suspecting. So, please I will advise you ring 111 ASAP, and let them know he has been having fluctuating fever and not resolving completely with Calpol. And describe other symptoms such as poor appetite and all.
I hope he gets well soon.

I understand this, don’t be scared of getting him checked. We have been to see GP and 2 out of 3 visits turned out to be viral infection and was advised to continue using homely remedies.
However, anything with unresolvable fever should not be left unchecked. The other day my LB had a fluctuating fever, coughing and not eating, was later seen by the GP. Turned out it was a chest infection that needed antibiotics and he got better with treatment provided.

They put everything down to being viral! How do they know without carrying out any tests! I’m on a rage because I was so sick in November last year, they put it down to viral, told me to ride it out for 8 weeks, no better then fobbed me off with antibiotics that didn’t work. I had to push for a chest xray which came back clear then I pushed for a sputum test which came back with a chest infection and then given the correct antibiotics, that all took me to February this year!!
Because he’s non verbal I actually think you should ring 111 tonight, they can hopefully get you an emergency appointment at your gp for the morning.
Trust your instincts, it’s never a waste of time, your babies health is priority. Hope he feels better soon x

oh this makes me feel more comfortable that I ain’t just going loopy, he’s currently awake crying and coughing 😫

Of course not. The moment a mother becomes worried, we know there is something not quite right, right?

Did he get checked and how is he now?
