Pretty sure my son has conjunctivitis, I have two questions
1- do I need to go to drs for it? NHS website says to just keep wiping with cool boiled water and a flannel and it should go on its own? But I remember when I had it when I was younger I would need drops?
2- Nursery, can he still go to nursery? Conjunctivitis is not on my nurseries policy as to not being able to send them in and I haven’t had a response to my email?

My 23 month old has had conjunctivitus twice now (currently going through it), personally I dont send him to nursery whilst the symptoms are showing (I've actually been very frustrated with the nursery not calling me to tell me his eyes have been gunking yellow and green every time).
In regards to Dr's, above information is correct. If under 2 you must have a gp prescribe antibitoics if above 2, a pharmacy can probably administer.
It also depends what type of conjunctivitus, there's viral or there's bacterial conjunctivitis. If they are white then it's viral/acute keep with the warm water and wiping clean as much as possible, if they are yellow or green and very pink and swollen, then they do need antibiotics.

My little one had this and was advised to use cotton pads and luke warm water and wipe regularly, if it doesn’t go away within a few days to a week or gets worse contact your GP

I took my then 16 month old to the pharmacy and got some Golden Eye
he’s 16 months, I tried pharmacy but they said same as you under 2’s have to go to drs but said to see if it clears on its own first.
Oh yeah I agree, I won’t be sending him I just didn’t know if I could or not (work will be mad at me having more days off as we was only ill a few weeks ago but can’t do much about it haha)
he’s 16 months so pharmacy won’t, and I didn’t know there was two types so thank you for that! It’s white at the moment so I will keeping up with the wiping clean x
pharmacy won’t give anything to under 2’s apparently so I would need a drs appointment x

!! Oh what !! After some questions they handed it over 😳

Not sure if all nurseries are the same but our rules is that they can return once they have started eye drops for 24 hours. They also have to be prescribed for under 2s

My 18 month old had conjunctivitis a few weeks ago, well I actually didn’t realise at first, just cleaned his eyes and sent him to nursery but then I got it in both eyes and realised it was actually conjunctivitis 🤣 also not on our nursery policy and it was never mentioned at drop off/pick up.
Just kept them clean with cooled boiled water and it cleared up within 48 hours.
It’s worse if you get it! I unintentionally gave it to my husband, work colleague and friend and trust me the adults suffered longer and harder!
I’m hoping it will go in a few days as it doesn’t seem bad at the moment (touch wood lol)
Yeah I’m dreading if I get it, I used to get it so bad when I was younger, eyes literally stuck shut!x
