Well if this is a pregnancy symptom then that’s definitely a new one! Not heard that before lol. I suppose doctors will put it down to hormone changes like everything else. Chances are it will pass as hormones fluctuate at every stage of pregnancy but maybe get it checked if it’s really bothering you as I can imagine that could get annoying for eating

Ive read it can be a hormonal thing but it’s really affecting me at night weirdly. Also heard it could be TMJ which is from clicking your jaw and grinding your teeth which weirdly my jaw was clicking before the pain started so I don’t know but I’m just unsure whether to call the doctors or dentist

yeah that makes sense. Do you have a midwife app soon? Or maybe a quick call to them as they may be able to send you in the right direction! Hope it eases soon for you, can’t be nice!

My next appointment is next month 😞 but might just give them a ring and see what they say

I get this, I think it's from the hormones messing with our joints. It has happened with both of my pregnancies, at night, mainly on the side I lay on. I did have TMJ years ago, but it has nothing to do with that because I had surgery to fix it in 2016 and haven't had issues since then.

how long does it last for you? I’ve had it since Sunday and that was the worst day

It really depends, I've had the pain last a few days before but it usually doesn't take that long

I suffered really badly with gingivitis during my second pregnancy (it’s a peak in hormones) and it flared up infections in my impacted wisdom teeth which caused horrendous jaw pain! It could be something similar? I’d recommend seeing a dentist as I was in and out during my second pregnancy and it ultimately led to me being referred and having all 4 of my wisdom teeth surgically removed under general anaesthetic this year! Along with some intensive gum cleaning right after I gave birth and fortunately the gingivitis has cleared up and my mouth feels healthier than ever!!

I clenched my jaw a lot during pregnancy and postpartum. It may be stress, how your sleeping etc. mouth guards help.
