My baby turned 6 months recently so I wanted to start weaning. However she is unable to sit on her high chair. She is wobbly and unstable. We have a stokke trip trap. I am worried she is falling behind because I have seen other babies younger than her sitting up nicely. Are any other mums experienced this?

Hey my little on is 6 months and is really wobbly. I haven’t started weaning yet. My 4 year old was 4 months when he could sit and I weaned him just before 6months. All babies are different x
@Vicky thank you! This makes me feel better. I was thinking maybe it's the high chair. Maybe I should get a different one. I got the stokke one since everyone said its good for posture but my baby literally can't sit on it yet! 😭

I have a basic IKEA one with a foot rest and she can sit up fine in that as it’s cushioned but she can’t sit on her own on the floor etc so waiting a bit x

My 6 mth old can't sit up unaided.. maybe pop rolled up towels either side.. not all babies sit up roll-over the same as other sure your little one is doing just fine 🙂

My little one turned 6 months on Monday. Whilst she can’t sit up on her own yet (maybe for 10 seconds every now and again!) she is a super hungry baby so I started her on purées around 4 months. I was also worried about the high chair however I have bought a Joie highchair which is a 6 in 1 as I wanted the stokke chair originally too but due to cost I went with this one. She sits lovely in it so would highly recommend even if you get one second hand until your baba can fit into the Stokke chair.
I also used a bumbo chair to help my little girl sit up which has worked wonders, so also something to try if you haven’t already. Cheap on Vinted.
I completely understand your feelings, thinking they are falling behind but I just remind myself all babies are different and are going at their own pace. I wouldn’t worry and just work with your baby together, you will get there. (Me included!) 🩷

My eldest couldn’t sit unaided in her high chair until about 8m despite being able to sit unaided at 5m. It was just too big and kept losing her balance. We used a booster seat that strapped to the dining chair instead which was brilliant. We’re using them for the twins this time and it’s working well so far
Be cautious going down the bumbo route, if they don’t hold babies hips at a 90degree angle it’s a choking hazard

It says at 6 months to sit with support? Is she closer to doing that? I think sitting completely unaided is a little later.

Feed her sitting on your knee? Or in her rocker if you can position it more upright? I regularly give my little boy a yogurt or snack just on my knee instead of the high chair

We have a Tripp Trapp but my 6 month old is too small and floppy in it so we’re using my in-laws ikea one for now as she can’t sit unaided
@Laura does the ikea one help her sit compared to tripp trapp? I am thinking I will get one if that's the case.
