Ugh 😩! Anyone else have a bi polar spouse?! Likeeee I love him but I’m losing my mind dealing with this. Advice? We are literally supposed to get married next year but if he can’t get this under control 🫠
I don't have a bipolar spouse, but I have my own mental health problems. I can definitely say I am not easy to love sometimes, but I know my husband loves me in sickness and in health. He made that vow and kept it/is keeping it. Can you? If not, you may want to re-think marriage. Mental health takes time, and when you feel like you have things under control, it seems like everything falls apart or changes. It's likely that it'll never be perfectly under control, and there will always be episodes, as tolerance to medication is real. It's not within his power to get it under control; his brain isn't actually capable of it. He's simply at the mercy of medications and doctors. Sure, therapy can help, but there is no cure. If you take the time to understand the disorder more, you may feel differently and could even be part of the treatment plan.
I really hope this is encouraging and helpful.
Thank you! I appreciate the advice yes my own therapist explained to me as well that having bi polar disorder is a chemical imbalance and it isn’t something that can be cured . I just feel like I’m going crazy sometimes
