Look for a new nursery or if it’s that little one just cant deal with nurseries yet, you could hire a babysitter for a couple hours for your driving lessons at like £20 per hour, and a cleaner for £15 per hour (at least in my area). So if those two things are what you need the nursery for, you could get it done cheaper than the nursery daily fee in a different way to using a nursery
I think it's worth remembering you are paying for a service - in this case the care of your child - and while it is totally right they call you for legitimate reasons it does seem like you might have cause to be concerned. I would get in contact first with the room lead and ask what options they think they can do to better settle your child at nursery. Say you are disappointed with being called for nap issues and food issues. Diarrhoea etc you just have to accept it's their decision as it is to protect other children. You can send them suggestions to try for getting better napping and eating results but also say they can also try what they find works well. And suggest that you don't want to collect early for these issues as you want them to work through it. I think it's worth remembering some parents want to be contacted if their child doesn't sleep or feed, and they probably do this as default so parents don't get annoyed that they aren't being asked. You can just say that's not your preference
@Helen I definitely DO require to be told these things however he did not have any diarrhoea at home and was starving with hunger when I collected him. Makes me wonder if they even Tried. There is an APP we use where they Usually post photos of him but that day there was nothing.. I called them to ask why they haven’t updated the app and if he’s been fed or changed.. They said he has and they are trying to get all of the babies to Sleep because of an outbreak of D&V throughout the nursery. I said okay. Even though my sons usually due his nap at 1pm and it was 11:30am when I called. Then they rung me at 12:30 saying he had diarrhoea like water and refused to eat anything and updated the app suddenly but No photos whatsoever unlike previous nursery times. Very odd with the nursery as they were good when he first started! I honestly think that they just cba with the babies that morning and I’m glad I picked him Up but I’m already looking at new nurseries.
If they had an outbreak of D&V they most likely didn’t have much time to be taking photos. Unfortunately that isn’t a priority and the nursery I work at (school based) don’t send photos through at all as our focus is on interactions. That being said if you’re not happy with them then that’s what matters. He should definitely have been fed and try to get him to nap everyday! I would also suggest 1 day a week isn’t the best amount of time to settle in properly and will take longer as it’s so out of routine. Maybe try 2 days if you can?
@Hayley they only have one day available and he’s been fine the first few weeks of being there. The new nursery I’m considering offers two afternoons on two different days which me and my husband are looking into now. It also sends us photos of him throughout the day too which we both find reassuring . Honestly not happy with our current nursery for him at the moment . So expensive and theyre not even focused on taking care of our child despite paying so much its ridiculous
I would be looking for a new nursery
