Mixing formula

Has anyone mixed formulas before? My son has really bad spit up but also gets constipated easily , he’s currently on Enfamil gentlease. I want to try the Enfamil AR with him which is a thicker rice formula. I think if I gave him just the AR he would become constipated so I’m thinking about mixing at a 25% 75% ratio or half and half. Has anyone else done this with these formulas or any others?

Yep I did that, and it seemed to really help

@Christina with those exact formulas or something else? And did you do a 25% 75% ratio or half n half?

Yes I’m doing this with aptamil reflux and normal aptamil formula, it’s really made a difference 😊

I've done it with those exact ones, as well as similac. We had to play formula roulette in my house for a while, and eventually switched to a prescription one. But that did help my baby some! We did 50/50 &25/75 as well. We played around with it a bit

I appreciate everyone’s comments! He’s been a heavy spit up baby since basically the first week after he was born and I was hoping it was going to get a little better but now at 2.5 months it’s not any better, if anything worse. So ordered some of the AR and will give it a try today! Glad to hear it worked for you guys hopefully it will for us too

i haven't mixed those specific ones, but i think a lot of parents do try mixing formulas to find what works best for their little ones, so it might be worth a shot! just keep an eye on how he reacts to it, you know? I actually checked the 'Heal App' for this and here's what it says: "Mixing formulas can be a common approach for some parents, especially when trying to address specific issues like spit-up and constipation. However, it's important to proceed with caution. Mixing Enfamil Gentlease with Enfamil AR could potentially help with the spit-up due to the thicker consistency of the AR formula, but it may also lead to digestive issues, including constipation, especially if your son is sensitive. Before you start mixing, I recommend trying a gradual approach. You could start with a smaller ratio, like 25% AR to 75% Gentlease, and monitor how he responds over a few days. If he tolerates it well, you can adjust the ratio as needed.
