Baby scratches themselves till they bleed. Anyone have any experience with this?

Our little girl does have eczema and allergies and also could be teething. She scratches at her head her chest and when she’s undressed her tummy. However she also has done this since birth and I’ve noticed she does it with tiredness, hunger, frustration and when she’s upset. So it’s seems more behavioural than it is to do with the allergies. She just claws at herself and it’s very distressing to watch. Obviously I’ve tried absolutely everything so not looking for tips unless anyone has any magical solution. More looking for reassurance from anyone who’s been through it. If you have an older child did they grow out of it? I was hoping the more aware she got the less she’d want to hurt herself but it doesn’t seem to be stopping. I don’t understand why she’d want to harm herself 😢😢😢 Our baby is 8 months now.

My now 13 year old did the same. She had severe eczema. If you are already treating the eczema and allergies, then she will grow out of it. Unfortunately, due to my situation at the time, my daughter only started to get better when she was almost 2 years old.

My daughter is 15mo and she also has eczema. She will scratch her leg folds, eyes and behind her ears. She gets more itchy at night and scratches her eyes and ears a lot when she is tired. She scratches her eyes until they are red and ears and thighs even when they are sore and bleeding. Nightly baths help us and, surprisingly, we recently found that neosporin significantly speeds up healing time, reduces redness and soothes her skin enough to reduce the itching. We also have to trim her nails very frequently!! I think that, when the baby is in emotional discomfort, it amplifies physical discomfort as well, so they will get more itchy and scratch more.
