Feeling unwell after giving birth

Feel like I’m getting myself stressed here. It’s been five days since I had my baby and today I woke up feeling like rubbish. I’ve been on the toilet about four times this morning already and I feel sick. Breasts are also huge and hurting thanks to milk coming in. I’m just worried there’s something wrong or is it quite normal to feel like shit after birth? I’m also paranoid what happens if I am poorly? Will my baby take a formula bottle?

after birth i felt useless. i tried to shower & nearly passed out, i was having contractions on day 3 & couldn’t stand up or sit down, i was being sick everywhere. my boobs felt as if i had boulders stuck to my chest😂🙈 honestly its so normal to feel absolutely fucked because pregnancy takes it out of you but then birth is a whole other ball game. If you have like a temperature or your being sick excessively then I’d contact your doctors x

Do you have any other mastitis symptoms as I think that can make you feel ill? Though that said if you've been having diarrhea then it's probably not mastitis. Could you have eaten something bad?

I got sick from the hospital and still sick and my Bub has bottle and boob milk and is thriving very well you can always pump so you don’t lose your milk as if you are sick it can slow down the process

If you feel like something is wrong, then go get checked out. Postpartum is a very delicate time for a woman (health-wise). It is better to be safe than sorry.

@Kassia I think the fact I only slept for two hours played a huge factor, feeling a lot better now 😅😂 I am at the hospital getting my stitches checked though so they’ve done vitals anyway

@Charlotte okay, I’m glad you’re feeling better. I just never want a postpartum woman downplaying her symptoms, because I used to work in the ER and I had a 26yr old woman, who gave birth in the past week, have a stroke in front of me. Lol. That and women can still get eclampsia after birth and post partum hemorrhage, pulmonary embolism, etc. Not to freak anyone out, but just get checked out if you ever have a bad feeling about your symptoms!

Always good to be safe, I sadly had a week of diarrhea after birth, the hormone shift hit my body harder than my emotions

I felt awful on and off for a few weeks after. It was like a shock to the system, I didn’t expect to feel so bad and I wondered was it normal which then made me anxious that something was wrong but apparently it was all normal. I had my midwives tortured lol. I had diarrhoea, no appetite, felt sick, sore boobs, was shocked at the amount of bleeding as I get light periods, (actually cried all day one day because I thought I was going to die with blood loss/clots lol), night sweats (never knew this was a thing), always so anxious, heart racing, couldn’t relax. Postpartum was a shock to me, I hated it
