Mums walking groups

Is there an active mums walking group in the southern part of Newham? I'm in Custom House and I only know of a walking group in Stratford which is too far. I've got a 6 week old and a lot of anxiety about going out with her so thought a walking group would be nice. If there isn't one, would anyone be interested in joining me anyway? Maybe we could start one casually.

Nice idea!

I'm literally around the corner from you and would be interested in walking Feel free to message 😊

I’m in west Silvertown and walk around the cable cars area most evenings if that helps?

I'm up for this too, I live near Upton Park, can travel a little bit to get to somewhere central for all?

Amazing! Seems like there's at least some interest. I'm very jealous of the people with gigantic parks to walk in but I think we can make do. We could walk around Royal Victoria Dock or Canning Town Recreation Ground to start? I'm still recovering from a c section so not up to my usual range.

Any preferred days of the week?

Im in royal docks and go for walks with my daughter every day. Would love to join sometime ☺️

@Ashley any day apart from Monday works for me

How about 1130 on Tuesday at Canning Town Recreation Ground for a start? At the entrance near Prince Regent Lane. I'm just taking a guess here on that time. Hopefully my daughter is feeling cooperative! She's not big on her pram so hopefully won't be crying the whole time haha.

@Ashley yep, I can be there

@Ria awesome!

You know there is a playgroup in Canning Town recreational ground also. I believe it’s Thursday and Friday but I haven’t taken my son this year (due to his activities) but am planning to start again

@Shay do you mean the stay and plays at the children's center or is there another group? I'm working up to the stay and play!

@Ashley yeah the stay and play at Edith Kerrison. My son has gone to both this one and the other one connected to it at kier hardy and he loves them both. Edith kerrison is a lot bigger indoors and has a small play section outside. They also give out the vitamins for babies the midwife give you also. Kier hardy is really small indoors but has a bigger outdoor area. There was another mum there that would bring her tiny baby and they would sit on the mat playing with the baby stuff

Would it be suitable for my 4 week old, or he's too small to make use of the facilities?

@Shay yeah I've been there to get my vitamins! Thanks for the Intel on the different children centers, I had no idea! I'm definitely going to go to the baby one on Thursday afternoon but I might not make it until next to due to an appointment. Maybe I'll see you there sometime?

@Salma https://www.edithkerrison.org.uk/childrens-centre/#activityprogramme The Thursday afternoon session says from birth to 12 months so that's the one I'm going to aim for with my 7 week old.

@Ashley thank you for this! 😊

@Ashley no problem. I have never taken my son to the Thursday one because it’s at 1:30-2:45 and it clashes with my sons nap, no matter how I try to move his schedule around🫤 however by June I will be taking him back to the Friday one at 10:45-12pm so if you ever show up to that one I’ll see you there for sure😊

Hi all, I’m in Plaistow and would love to join any walking groups 😊 Thanks for the info on baby playgroups as well!

Hi @Lilly I think we're doing to try for Wednesday next week but don't have the time or place locked down yet! I've waved at you so we can DM

I've made a Whatsapp group to organize walks easier. Please message me for the link and I'll be happy to give it!
