Placenta Previa

I did my anatomy scan, and the only issue is that I have placenta previa. The doctor wants to see me again in a couple weeks and said it should move. I just wanted to see if anyone else was told the same thing? Trying to see if it's common.

Hey Nickie! I have the same thing. My midwife said it’s pretty common at the anatomy scan and most (75-90% or so) end up moving out of the way after 28ish weeks of pregnancy.

I depends on how severe your placenta previa is. I had a low lying placenta with my second and it moved away from my cervix around 34 weeks.

My OB told me that she doesn't worry about it until 32 weeks, by then 90% of cases resolve themselves. My cousin had it, it didn't resolve, and they just planned a C section, so nothing out of this world.

Had it with my first and I was so worried, I’m like 90% sure it will move and you’ll be fine, I wouldn’t give it too much thought

It’s really common

Hi! I had placenta previa with my second. It was fully covered and went away during my third trimester. I was worried about it but was told by my ob that it’s pretty common and 90% of the time resolves itself!

Had it as well with my first pregnancy and it resolved itself by the early 3rd trimester. 🩷

Mine was partial I believe, they initially noticed probably around 16-18 weeks. They also said it should move in a couple weeks and it did.

I’ve also had this in this pregnancy (completely covering) and really panicked as I’ve had two preterm labours at 32 weeks so was worried it wouldn’t move in time as I’m high risk of another preterm labour. However, it had cleared to the safe distance of 2cm away by around 25 weeks. As others have said it is very common and majority do move. Do you know if your placenta is anterior or posterior? If I remember rightly, anterior placentas have a much higher chance of moving, as your bump grows it ‘pulls’ the placenta up with it xxx

Hiii. I’m on the SAME boat. I was told I have placenta previa and can’t do any crazy activities until my next appointment. Although I haven’t had any bleeding so I’m hoping it goes well. And praying that it moves by my next appointment. Stay positive 🙏🏼

@Louise no way! If anterior placenta have a higher chance of moving then you just made my night lol. Since I have both anterior placenta and placenta previa. Xx

@Valerie fingers crossed it moves out of the way for you 🤞🏻. I hope I am right now 😂 - it would make sense though as if anteriors are embedded at the front then they’ll naturally be pulled upwards as baby grows xxx
