Do you cap naps? Does it help with night time sleep? (Around 1 year olds)

I feel awful waking little one up from naps but I think some naps he would sleep for hours! We are still on 2 naps a day and are not ready to drop one yet!
Started trying to gently wake him up so bed time is a little earlier and he is not happy when I do ๐Ÿ™ˆ
Any tips or advice? Does it improve night time sleep if you cap?

I found that if I woke from naps everything else was worse cos she hadn't had enough daytime sleep.

The timings I would say are more important than the actual nap length.

What's the timings for wake up, naps and bedtime?

i totally get that, waking them up can feel so mean, but yeah, capping naps can help with nighttime sleep sometimes... maybe try a gentle wake-up with some soft music or a little cuddle time? ๐Ÿ˜Š here's what the 'Heal App' says....

"It's understandable to feel conflicted about waking your little one from naps, especially when they seem to need the rest. Capping naps can indeed help improve nighttime sleep by ensuring they are tired enough to settle down for the night. A good approach is to gently wake him after 1.5 to 2 hours for each nap, as this duration is often ideal for maintaining a healthy sleep schedule without overtiredness.

You might try gradually waking him by dimming the lights or softly talking to him, which can make the transition smoother. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, maintaining a consistent sleep schedule can also support better sleep patterns overall.

How long are his current naps, and what time does he typically go to bed?

We started waking on naps. She would sleep for hours when she was around that age and was a nightmare at bedtime. Sheโ€™s now 2, dropped naps completely and honestly bedtime is a dream now. I was 1.5+ hours to get her to sleep before and now itโ€™s 5/10 minutes x

Also have a one year old. I don't wake him from a nap if it's long but I do wake him if he isn't awake by a certain time, otherwise bedtime can become difficult. I normally let his morning nap be what it will be but I wake him from his afternoon one at 4 if he isn't awake already, otherwise we're looking at a post 8pm bedtime
