Velcro baby - chest sleeping

My LO is 10 weeks and has been chest sleeping since birth. He hates his crib and refuses to be put down When will he get over being so attached to me? When will the chest sleeping end? Anyone got any positive experience? Just want him in his own space so I can have my own space!!

Of course ! 10 weeks is so so little, they spent 10 months inside you your their whole world! They don’t see you as seperate to themselves yet, it gets easier :) I chest slept and cosleep, I stopped chestsleeping when I felt comfortable to cuddle curl Are you breastfeeding? X

Extremely normal for babies to do this. My little girl is very attached to me, so I hear and understand you. And the reality is that you are your babies world, there’s no separation he can understand just yet, he’s too little for that. I say find ways to embrace it even though it feels like forever it’s a season of your life and it will pass soon and your child won’t need you in this way, perhaps in other ways but not this exact way. Find a carrier or two that works, co-sleep so that he feels safe enough to feel comfortable and independent with time, it will take time but you’ll get there. Erica Komisar, the psychologist says it takes closeness to become fully independent, counterintuitive to independence feeding independence. Pls read her audiobook Being There for some references and Dr. James McKenna’s Safe Infant Sleep that also talks about why babies are wired this way. It helped me not resent it but rather lean into it as I understand it better
