Changing mats

Can anyone advise on what type of changing mat they used please? FTM here! I already have an IKEA koppang chest of 6 drawers that I was hoping to use as a changing station. Will this be doable instead of buying a special changing dresser? I’ve seen some places sell tops for chest of drawers but I can’t find one for this make. What’s best, an anti roll wedge mat, something like the shnuggle mat or a changing basket? (I’ve heard baskets are hard to clean and they grow out very quickly but they look nicest) I don’t really want to get an over cot topper because I want everything within easy reach in a caddy or on the cupboard. Do you even use your changing station or just change anywhere in the house with a portable mat?

i have a mat from aldi! can use it around the house and then i have a changing mat that came with my baby bag!

I had an anti roller wedge one on top of her dresser in her room and then just a fold out one for downstairs. Tbh I only really used the one on her dresser when getting dressed in a morning. I mainly used the fold out one whilst downstairs. You do just tend to change wherever so I wouldn’t worry too much about getting anything expensive

It sounds like you've got the same chest of drawers we have and it will be fine. We keep everything to the hand in the top draw and stuck the changing mat to the top of it. The current changing mat is from Asda he pulled the old one and ripped it. The anti roll ones may help but there's no way you would leave the little one unsupervised on a changing mat

I just got a normal changing mat from John Lewis while we were in there. Use a fold out one downstairs. Absolutely use the top of the dressing table. It's what I use. Then nappies etc went in the top drawer with drawer dividers from IKEA! Changing table would be a waste of space and money because trust me, you will just change your baby anywhere!

We just have a standard changing mat on top of a set of drawers. We've also only ever changed him on this set up when at home, so people telling me it wouldn't get used were wrong 😆

We have an anti roll wedge from Mabel & fox and I really love it, it’s slightly more expensive than other more basic mats but worth it for a lovely pattern and good quality product. They have sales on throughout the year too ☺️ agree that basic/fold up ones are great for downstairs & next to your bed for night changes x
