We cut holes in her paci as soon as she turned 2. We told her they were broken. Took 2 nights of crying to sleep. Breaking the habit without replacing it will help the most. Or maybe just a new “special” stuffie to sleep with.
@Ashley I was thinking of replacing it with a teether maybe. I don’t think I stuffie would work.
I saw a TikTok where a mom put the paci in a build a bear and I thought that was kind of a cool way to say goodbye to it. I’m in the same boat with my son, but he has autism and I don’t know how to best take it from him in a way he will understand
@Tiffany I’ve seen that too but I’m not sure if that will work with her. Good luck, maybe swapping it with a teether might help your son. It just depends on if he using the paci for a comfort item or a chewy
I prepped my son weeks before we gave up the paci, we did the balloon method ( I know, not environmentally safe). We read books, sang songs, watched videos a vids other kids giving up the paci. That day, he did cry for it before nap time. We just had to remind him that he said bye to it. The first night was tough. But after that, he started reminding himself that he is a big boy
