Immunisations and calpol advice please🙏🏻

So my little one had her immunisations at 3pm today and I was told to give her calpol every 4 hours. Are we doing this through the night too? Or should I give her the call when she wakes for a feed which is around 5/6 hours after the bottle I’m about to give her🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey! You actually don’t need to give it to her if she’s okay and not showing any signs of discomfort or fever. When my son had his I gave him 1 dose only immediately after the vaccinations were done. He was fine when we got home so I didn’t give any more calpol. It says this on the leaflet included also - only give if needed. I hope that helps!

If you do decide to continue giving it to her, just do not exceed once every 4-6 hours as recommended. You can wait after the bottle you’re about to give. In my case I would assess if baby needs it first, before giving it.

I was told to give the calpol twice more within four hours after the jabs regardless of whether baby was okay incase of a temperature

I was told to give a dose immediately after, then every 4-6 hours, 3 doses in total. And if my son is still unsettled to continue for another day. And call the GP if still not settled after 3 days.

Ah thank you all! I’m a FTM and just wanted some reassurance ❤️

My little girl had her yesterday. I have her Calpol between 4-6h but she didn’t have any thought the night. Xx

I had to space out more then 4 hours as otherwise I would of done more then 4 doses in 24 hours, which meant 5 hours after his last dose in the night his temp went up, I’d stick to every 4 hours for 3 doses and then see how little one is , if I’d of done this my lo wouldn’t of developed a fever x

I would see if your baby needs it. My baby did but it made him very constipated! X

I was wondering this exact thing! My little boy had his today and he’s just had his third dose at 10pm there. I am worried that during the night he’ll get a temp as they say babies shouldn’t overheat during the night. He’s been quite sleepy this evening so worried he might not wake during the night. In which case I think I’m gonna set an alarm and check him.

@Sinèad I think I’m gonna do the same, going to give her 3rd dose now at 11 and then put an alarm on for half 2 to check her temp❤️

I was told to only give 2 doses and 6 hours apart. I did this however gave a third dose after 4 hours as little one had a temp and not much of the previous dose actually went in. It’s my second so felt comfortable making this call. But on the packet for 2-3 months olds it does advise only 2 doses within 24 hours, however if you needed a third I think it’s fine. But you don’t need to wake them. If baby woke and was really unsettled/temp then could give another round.

When my older two had theirs we were told just to give Calpol if they needed it. This time the nurse said the guidance is to give three doses as standard, our jabs were at 4 so I gave him a dose when we got home at 4.30, a second one at 9.30 and had to wake him during the night to give him the last one. He was more upset about that than he was about the jabs! He didn't need any more after that luckily.

My 8 week old had hers today and since has literally non stop screaming my poor baby I have given paracetamol but doesn’t really seem to be making difference apart from bringing her temp down 🤍

With the vaccine you are to give 3 doses 4-6 hours apart die the first jags. You can give 4 but they can’t have more than 4 in a 24 hour period x
