If he like to climb, he probably will try to climb over it at some point. Are you able to baby proof the room and put your mattress on the floor?

@Summer He’s at the trying to pull himself up on everything stage, I usually wake up before him in the morning, if it’s a good night. I have a no space at all. I’ve got walk of wardrobes, 2 drawers, his cot which I end up using as his play pen as he never lasts more than a hour in, and then my bed. He won’t even have his own room for years yet because there’s no room to put him in, I looked at a floor bed like a single one, if I was to get a single bed for me, I don’t know. I currently have a king size but I’m paranoid now he’s go go go

I also cosleep but haven't got to this stage yet. I've a plan that if/when he gets to this stage of trying to climb and not being safe in my bed anymore I think I'll transition him to a floor bed in his own room (a double size) and then I'll go in with him to help him with the transition to fall asleep until he's comfortable to sleep on his own. It could be worth checking in with a health visitor or other health care professional to see what they suggest. Good luck!

@Sophie Thank you! Good luck! My LO was not planned but obv I love him to bits but my other boy is 16, so I can’t make him share atm, and my daughter has the box room, I might have to get a floorbed until he’s older and I decide want to do with rooms

When my son was about 10 months old, he fell over the bed guard as he would use it to pull himself up and then bounce up and down. I would always stop him but one time just before I was going to put him down for a nap he crawled over there, done his usual and I was literally sitting right beside him folding up his changing mat when he went over it! We had wood and glass bedside tables on either side of the bed and he went head first over the guard and hit his head on the table! It was such a miracle nothing bad happened to him, had a slight bruise and bump and was completely fine but I never was after that! I never allowed him to go near it when awake after that and when he started sleep crawling in the middle of the night I knew it was time I got rid of it. I now have the bed pushed up against the wall with some foam padding on the wall and the bed can’t move so he is safe and I don’t have to worry now! It was less than ideal to push it up to the wall but I had to put his safety first

Can you just put your mattress on the floor? You don't necessarily need to buy a floor bed

@Tess won’t it go mouldy without any air? I’ve seen people before say you need something under, and then I’ve got a king size bed I’d need to dismantle and do something with, I’m a single parent too, I can’t even lift this simba on my own to turn it like recommended ha z

@Shay oh my gosh bless him Glad he’s ok! They are like little tarzans when they start moving any they lol! Jumping and climbing about! I thought of this, but the only wall my bed can go on, is next to the window, where it wouldn’t sit flush, and I’d be paranoid with it next to the radiator, as the radiator is under the window, so there would be a gap too, then it’s the worry of him climbing up on the window, the other main wall is all wardrobes that can’t be moved. Meh!

My son is nearly 11 months and will hold anything to stand up . Thankfully he’s never fell but that’s my worst fear too

I’ve just got our mattress on the floor, much less stress
