Eating solids

I’m a first time mom so I’m figuring everything out at the next stages of her life. Her pediatrician said she can start eating solids at 4 and a half months. Has anyone had this? Or heard of this? I was shocked and thought this is too young…

Mine did! I was nervous but all went well. Wasn’t really interested for the first few weeks anyways.

I wonder why she said that. Seems early to me.

I tried and she would not do it. Didn’t really start eating solids until 7 months

4.5 months is quite early considering the ABP just upped to to 7-8mo? Is she able to sit with minimal support and control her head and trunk well? I would be scared to start that early

I wouldn't start that early.

We started at 4 months because he had head control and everything. Even his doctor didn’t mind at all

My daughter did it four months you just start off with something super machine you write down all the stuff that they have to make sure they’re not allergic to anything and you start trying. It’s good for them, but that’s not their main source of meal right now their milk, but it’s good for them to try anything mushed. You can also try the baby oatmeal or cereal and milk at night it keeps them fuller/sleep longer .

@Charley what’s the reason people are so afraid to give to early. Is it that they’re scared their stomachs won’t digest it?

@Fay it’s because guy flora tends to not developed enough to digest properly and in some cases can lead to long term or life long digestion issues. Along with choking issues, if they are not stable enough to hold their head up sufficiently and control their neck and abdomen they’re more likely to not be able to clear their airways if they

@Fay I wouldn't say "so afraid", I'd say that current research shows us that early weaning can be linked to issues later in life and I would want to minimise that for my child as much as possible.
