Have had this as well with my little girl, do you think she might be teething? We’ve noticed she will take a better feed and it will be less of a battle if we pop some teething gel on just before the feed x
Mine did this for about a week, would take about half of his bottle then refuse. Usually doing something else for a bit and then trying again (within the hour) worked, sometimes I have to put him in his bouncy chair and feed him that way - almost like he wants some independence! Not sure if that’s helpful but to let you know it’s happening here too x
Thank you all!! She's screaming the moment I put the bottle in her mouth almost like she's in pain or something? So I do wonder if it's teething related? X
Try making the bottle a bit more cooler, this may help 🙂
@Gemma baby is 4 months so you could try teething gel applying it 15 minutes before baby’s feed to see if that settles the pain. It could be the bottle is rubbing on the gums that are sore if teeth are coming The doctors should be able to work out the min amount of milk should be having a day, 200ml might sound a lot and be worrying but it might not actually be spread over the day/ night Hope baby is okay, remember it’s not forever it’s just hard seeing them like this. You got this x
I come on here to ask the exact same thing, my little girl is 4 months tomorrow and has just started having 300ml less milk a day and is taking 2.5oz a feed, it's driving me mad! We are following the 9th centile so also a bit little x
My little one did this a few weeks ago. She’s breast and bottle fed so wasn’t as worrying. But I think it’s linked to teething. What we did to get her back on the bottle: - be super positive and smiley - let them play with the teat in their mouth - offer something they want (mine was either boob, or biting on my finger) and then switch it with the bottle - just take your time and don’t force it too much I hope it helps and she’s back feeding again soon x
Thanks so much everyone! Just reassuring to hear similar stories! Her feeding seems to be up today! It's just so worrying isn't it when they don't seem 100% themselves! X
Hi Gemma, I’ve been through this a couple of times with my little one. It’s like he goes through periods of just not wanting a full feed, and like you it stressed me out thankfully we’re back to full feeds again now! It could be pure coincidence for me but I found a link with his injections- when he had those for a week he was just extremely fussy on the bottle. X
