Abroad tips/hacks

Hi, I'm going abroad in a few weeks. Does anyone have any tips or hacks for making it easier with a one year old please?

We go every 2-3 months, my main tips are: Don’t forget you go through family security and passport control, there are seperate queues for this and find the family security is usually quite hectic, so make sure if you have someone with you, split tasks eg one person stays with the child and pushchair, the other keeps watch on the bags going through and waits for them, they will check your milk if you’re taking it so it can take longer and you need to keep watch as they call out which bag they are checking and you need to go over and open it for them as they won’t open it for safety reasons The pushchair can go right up to the plane door on most airlines, you just need to ask for a tag for you pushchair at the check in/bag drop area when you arrive and they tag it for you, usually they then ask you to just collapse it and leave it at the foot of the plane and they will take it from there, quite often the other end it’s not waiting for you as you get off the plane so be prepared to

Carry your one year old all the way through passport control, I forgot my carrier last time and my arms went so dead from holding her in the queues 😂 Save space in your luggage by just packing enough nappies and wipes for the flight and first day, buy some when you’re out there, they are available anywhere and most shops/gift shops will have a small selection of nappies and wipes Take lots of little toys for the airplane, baby will get bored if not napping, we took musical instruments (sorry passengers 😂) and had miss Rachel downloaded onto my phone as a back up, also lots of snacks! We packed lots of treats like crisps and biscuits etc as the food on the airplane is not baby friendly 😂 Don’t forget to buy a clip on pushchair fan and uv protector shade if you’re going somewhere hot Half the time these days you can actually get a better rate by using your bank card abroad instead of converting money, depending where you are going, I go to Spain, I use my starling bank card and

When it asks me to choose to pay in euros or pounds always click euros as it gives you a better conversion rate (tip learnt from my dad as he lives there haha) xx

Have alot of patience 😂😂 xx

We just did a 3 week trip to Japan so it was a 17 hour flight and honestly it went a lot better than I imagined. As others said you can take a travel pram and take it all the way to the gate and then you pick it up with your luggage. We packed some toys and lots of snacks. We also took a lunchbox with sandwiches and fruit which wasn't an issue at all. His water bottle was emptied but we bought water from the shop once through security and filled it up. There were also water fountains. I took 5 bottles of formula through as well because my son has high calorie formula to mix in his porridge for breakfast, that wasn't an issue and they just scanned it separately and asked about it. There is no limit for how much formula you take. We also packed plenty of nappies, a change of clothes, and spare clothes. Most of the time he was either asleep or happily playing with the touchscreen on the headrest and the cup holder 😅 And as other mentioned use the family lane!!!!! Saved so much time

I also downloaded ms rachel and the hey bear sensory dancing veggies. Didn't have to use it that much but it did come in handy at times he wouldn't settle.
