Activities for 14 month old

Hi, I’m looking for suggestions for some activities at home to entertain my lil one . Some educational toys that are best for this age

Playing is educational for them. Kids that age often like to scoop and pull things from containers and replace them. The post above looks interesting and fun but not for a 14 month old, those are choking hazards. I was not a fan of this at first but I am now- edibles as toys. I thought it wasted food so I refused to make colored rice for example (and still do) but sunflower seeds and other seeds that they could handle, different kinds of noodles, and such can be provided as sensory exploration, keep in mind that anything they get is getting tasted, they’re gonna either gum, bite, lick, or attempt to suckle whatever you put in front of them. Colored balls (I got BPA free ones) often are missing one color (insert huge eye roll) but they’re educational because balls are fun and you can call out the colors for them and count them for fun. I would focus more on fine motor skills for now though.

My baby is 2 now and we’re much more skill focused than I was when I first began trying to educate him- sure we still have numbers and abc time every day but it’s all about making him feel accomplished and helping him take over tasks. We cook, and he genuinely is involved in every not-hot step when I bring him in as my sous chef. I trust him to pour stuff into my measuring cup (lord help us) and let him get covered in flour when it’s time to keep his hands occupied

@🍄‍🟫🍄 my daughter is 14 months almost 15 . I use to work in childcare and the toys are educational and yes they are smaller . Yes she puts them in her mouth but all activities are done with myself . It’s tissue paper that’s around the book.

@Amy I didn’t say anything about them not being educational, I can see the concept and it’s cute but figurine size you chose is absolutely resulting in a number of choking hazards for a child of that age. I wouldn’t personally include them in play time for a child of 14mo, regardless of whether it’s supervised or independent play. We all make our own decisions though, and she might enjoy the idea for later or even for now. Even so, I felt like those concerns were worth mentioning to a mom looking for activities for her baby. That isn’t an activity I would allow my child of 2 to do but I’ve let them use sand paper to make a beach collage and paper cutouts of sea critters to glue to the board, this was done in a group setting and at home for children aged 18-36mo and we first did it when he was 14mo or so. He also played with kinetic sand and got to pick out big seashells. Similar concepts, also an idea.
