Lets talk foreskin!
I read at around 4 yo is when the foreskin starts to unfuse so can be pulled back. Well today my boy complained his penis was hurting a little bit so at bedtime I thought I'd give it a look and see if it needed cleaning or something. I was able to pull it back (I didn't over do it cos its all alien to me and don't know what's right and wrong. Also the fact that my upbringing is dad wud do this sort of thing so I'm having to really go against what I've been made to believe). Any way everything looked OK, as in nothing looked sore. I then found myself having to teach him how he shud pee now. He's a little short so he's just got the hang of peeing properly standing up with no stool to stand on but now I've had to show him the pull back method. Apparently when they have foreskin they're supposed to pull the skin back before they start peeing and hold it like that when wiping too. Otherwise all the bacteria builds up side the foreskin and causes all kinds of nasties.
I'm kind of doing this post for more advise on anything else we/he shud be doing. Like maybe wash his penis before bed everyday or is that over kill? Also to give others advise cos I wudnt have know about the pull back (saw a guy explain it on tiktok, no idea how that ended up on my feeds!)
Hubby wasn't around for all this cos he had to take a relative to hospital this evening so he's missed all the fun! 😒 and he'd be no help anyway cos he had his removed for medical reasons when very little.
Hope this post has helped a few people as well as getting more advice.
Thanks for sharing. I've just had a baby boy he's only 4 months old so im a long way from this yet, but I didn't know they had to pull the foreskin back when they pee either. My first is a girl, so this is all new to me too. Il have to keep this in mind
