Potty Training

My 2 year old has been showing signs of being ready to start potty training. We bought a potty, but she refuses to sit down on it. I have to hold her there (even when distracted) otherwise she just wants to get up. We’ve tried watching Bluey and eating a snack. It only works for like a min and then she wants to get off. How do I get her to stay on the potty? She’s also not talking yet (we’re starting early intervention) and just flat out ignores us (especially while fussing, which she does a lot on the potty).

My kid does that too! Almost the same age as well! They are just not comfortable yet but be consistent. At 1st, he only liked the fact that the little potty can make this flushing sound, Ohhh he went to town on that lol. After awhile he’d sit on it but he would still get up. In the pass few months, I’ll put him on it at certain times of the day (like when he wake up/after eating/ before bath) and He did started using it.. doing the #1 sometime-ish lol. Which it a great start but imma get this book too☝🏾thanks for sharing it @Andrea

Try getting her to sit on it occasionally. If you suspect she wants to go etc or even during bath take it out and let her get used to sitting on it

I second that book, I’m just reading it right now in preparation for it and it’s very interesting

I wouldn’t force her to sit on it. She’ll start to no like it. Make it interesting and fun. Let her see you sit on the potty, wipe, flush, wash hands. My daughter sits only for a little as well but she wipes herself (doesn’t actually go yet), says flush the toilet and wash your hands. We read potty books which she understands and we are going to get her a fun Minnie Mouse potty where she can flush it herself
