Thank you! Yes my concern is if I do get the job then tell them they will think I’ve tricked them or been dishonest and it could be a bad start. I won’t be getting maternity pay anyway but need to look at the maternity allowance. I was in consistent employment until March and have been in a different temporary role since
I know someone who got a job 2 months before the due date. No one knew about her being pregnant due to remote work. I personally think people understand and don't judge in such cases because it's hard to be pregnant and unemployed 😢
You are under absolutely no obligation to tell anyone you are pregnant. The telling your employer by 25 weeks only applies if you are claiming statutory maternity leave. Obviously you won’t be entitled to statutory maternity leave but depending on when you have worked you may be able to claim maternity allowance from the government. People will say things like ‘oh but you want to be truthful’ or ‘think of the company’ but ignore then, you aren’t lieing and you need to do what is right for you. It’s just business at the end of the day 🤷 companies cannot discriminate against you because of pregnancy BUT it’s a very competitive job market right now and people do suck sometimes
